Update on what I am now dubbing "#TheVacationFromHell or as we like to say, our lovely trip to "The Big Island".
What started as a mishap of missed connections, an unknown mechanical problem to Dallas, overnighter in Dallas, a delay for a tire change and a left brake assembly change on our flight from LA, had gotten even better. We land in a torrential downpour, and the first thin my daughter says "mommy, we have to walk out in this". I was like what? . The airport is an open air terminal. So, mom and Camp take off, I get left behind to manage three bags. I realize when I get to the boron of the ramp, the tarmac is flooded an ND no ore have to carry all these bags. Some nice man handed one for me. The was awesome. We then walk thru the floodgates of hell to find hooray, or luggage did indeed make the trip.
On, a positive note, the car rental agency, which normally closes at 1030, stayed open for us.
We get to the hotel. Thank goodness I am following my aunt. She is the one getting married in the morning. Maybe.
Fritz, her fiance is amazing. They took us to the hotel.
The parking lot was flooded with 6 or more inches of rain. It was solo training at this point, so I get this flimsy paper thingies that I am supposed to use to get in the parking lot, well, epic fail, so I drove in through the exit. Found a spot. Now I get to walk through the 6 or more inches of rain back to the hotel.
Fritz, the gentleman that he is, insisted on getting our luggage for us. He slipped in the rain with my bag. In the dark and rain, he walked into the back of his car and hit his nose. Now he is bleeding all over the lobby, has cut his nose so bad, he and my aunt are now at the emergency room because he may need stitches.
We are in the room. 5th floor, what looks like an amazing view of the ocean. It may have even stopped raining.
Oh yeah, I found out not only can I NOT sleep on an airplane, but my legs swell.
So, after haven gotten up around 7th central time, Monday morning,, my inability to sleep in dallas, and maybe a brief nap on the plane, I am finally going to bed.
I think it is Wednesday morning. I am not sure.
The staff have been great they sneaked us dinner on this last flight, while it was grounded,
I say, this #VacationFromhell only get better.
